I wanted someone to find me.

I wrote a letter to a stranger this morning.
I had just finished Fredrik Backman's My Friends.
There are books I savour because I don't want them to end.
This one made me want something else.
I wanted someone to find me.
That is an uncomfortable sentence to write. But I think it's true.
There is a moment in the book when one person recognises another and just knows you are one of us.
I wanted that.
And then I wondered how anyone is supposed to find us if we spend so much time hiding the things that might make us recognisable.
A painting, a song or even a strange idea. A few words written before everyone else wakes up.
Perhaps we have to leave some evidence of ourselves lying around.
So I wrote Fredrik Backman a letter. And then, because apparently writing it wasn't frightening enough, I decided to leave it here.
In case someone recognises something.
